I
wanted to pass on to you that the LTA-Rifle rod works perfectly with AR-15's
that have standard A1 and A2 type flash hiders. I found that using a large
rubber band hooked around the bayonet lug and the front of the laser increases
the sensitivity of the unit so that it can reliably detect the hammer pulse
from the gun even with a dry firing adapter in the bolt carrier. This vastly
improves the keeping track of the follow through during training. It also
decreases the lock time for the laser pulse because of the shorter hammer arc
travel distance versus waiting for it to go the full distance to hit the
firing pin. When combined with the slight pulse delay in the laser unit I
think it gives a more accurate representation of the live fire characteristics
of the AR-15.
I
also examined the LTA-Rifle rod with an M1A using the .30 caliber adapter and
it is too short to use with the M-14 type flash hider. The problem would be
easily fixed by using a longer screw and a spacer that adds roughly 1 inch of
length to the assembly so the LTA-Rifle rod can contact the rifling in the
M-14. Then it will work fine. I am sending this observation to Beamhit to
let them know.
