We are a national distributor of Badger Barrel or Bristol, WI.  We stock custom made AR15 service rifle barrels and AR match rifle in .223 as well as match grade 30 caliber ATMU contoured blanks.  These are made to Badger Barrels and Northern Competitions strict quality control.

This is a five shot group fired with Factory Ammo from a bench rest at 100 yards from a Northern .

They now make Match AR-15 Service Rifle Uppers that have been re-designed (internally) and are now sweeping the country.

AR Service Rifle Upper Complete CMP Legal

Badger Barrels has an outstanding reputation in the barrel business.  Ernie Stallman and his wife Gerri opened their doors in 1988 and have set new standards for their barrels. Other barrel companies cannot even meet the standards they have set for their barrel making procedures.

These barrels are all broach cut, this gives the grooves a uniformity of .0002 dimensions for every barrel that is broach cut.  This provides every barrel will be produced as the next one.  That gives you, the shooter consistency from our broach cut barrels.  Both Chromemoly and Stainless Steel barrels are available.  The high grade of chromemoly used provides a stronger and more uniformed barrel.  Our barrel finishes at 32 Rockwell, when breaking in the chromemoly barrel.  Following our break in procedure the high grade of chromemoly Badger Barrels uses. The steel has been work hardened to a Rockwell of 37 to 38, which gives you the highest quality barrel.  Stainless steel barrels are anywhere from 25 to 30 on the Rockwell scale. That is the hardest they will get because of the nickel content in the stainless steel and the stainless steel doesn’t work harden.  If you use a brush in the stainless steel barrel, you’re scratching the inside of the barrel.  Badger Barrels took their own high-grade chromemoly and stainless steel barrels and fired the break in procedure and sectioned both barrels.  We found that you can take your fingernail and put a scratch or impression in the stainless steel barrel but nothing in the high-grade chromemoly.  Stainless steel barrels, even after 500-4000 rounds, can still be scratched because of the softness of the metal.  So the high-grade chromemoly gives you a longer barrel life, and less throat erosion than the stainless steel because of the hardness of the steel.

Single point and buttoning that many barrel makers use, cannot even match what broach cutting can give you in a barrel, uniformity and the highest consistency in barrel making.  A lot of the barrel makers look at quantity instead of quality.  All barrels are hand lapped after every procedure and cryogenically treated to reduce fouling.  These barrels are made with the combination of old world workmanship and the newest technologies.  All barrels are personally hand inspected before leaving our shop to you.  That’s what Northern Competition and Badger Barrels bring to the competitive shooter, giving them the leading edge.

Northern Competition Service Rifle Match Sight

The Northern Competition service rifle match sight is the only unit built as a true ¼ x ¼ match quality sight.

The Northern Competition sight we produce in not a collection of re-machined add-ons to a standard A2/E2 rear sight. It’s built from bar stock, using 12L14 steel.  This steel is known for it’s fine machining characteristics, critical for holding tolerance.  The tolerances, design and quality result in a system that will allow AR15 to have a true and dependable rear sight with no additional money spent on fitting, parts replacement, or accessories.  The Northern Competition rear sight comes with an aperture and hood, and is fully engraved and fully finished.  The threads and screw shoulders are precisely sized to reduce play.  These are true click values that we express as inches at 100 yards (not minutes of angle).  Our ¼ inch rear sight will move group center ¼ inch at 100 yards.

Hoods and Apertures

All Northern Competition rear sights include your choice of hood.  The rear aperture size is 0.040.  Hoods are in stock at either 0.275, or 0.550 length.  If it doesn’t say Northern Competition on it—it’s not ours.

-Important note concerning sight use.

The Northern Competition match sight is a precision instrument and should be treated as such. DO NOT flip rear sight!!! The large flat spring under the flip sight should be undisturbed.  This is critical to the feel of the sight. Each time the sight is flipped and the spring is compressed the spring can change and there’s no guarantee that the sight will return to its previous location.

THE NORTHERN COMPETITION SERVICE RIFLE MATCH SIGHT IS SIMPLY THE BEST AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET!!!!!

NM Front Sight Housing Assembly-

Comes complete with a .050 square front sight post, detent, detent spring, sight set screw to hold the front sight post secure and four set screws to secure the front sight assembly to the barrel.  It comes fully assembled and ready to slide onto your new Northern Competition barrel.  Unlike front sights that are pinned or glued, the rear sight can be put at its mechanical zero, and the rifle zeroed using the setscrews on the base of the front sight assembly.

Northern Competition Float Tube

We make our float tube with the modifications we know would benefit the shooter.  Threads on the barrel nut are finer for better thread lockup.  We make our own sling swivel mount and we mill a slot in our tube to have a three sided weld instead of a butt weld like other float tubes.  Our lock ring is wider and we have three holes to put thru the ring, so it’s easier to lock up the ring on the float tube. Our unit comes with gas tube and pin.
